FAMA FOUNDATION
The Objectives
"To preserve the Collective Memory and the experience of Survival on the Phenomenon of Sarajevo Siege as a reminder of our past and aspiration for our future. By developing "The Bridge" an Educational project that will assist Young Sarajevans in rebuilding their future through quality education and successful integration of the civilian victims of war into the community, as equally contributing members.""...As by accentuating the differences we will decrease divisions within the society..."
Development Path
Since the early days of its existence FAMA has become one of the strongest advocates in explaining what was happening to the besieged city of Sarajevo and its citizens. At the same time it has always managed to donate its time, equipment and educational grants to Sarajevans in need. Truly believing that the foundation for better future rests on young generation and their quality education.
The following are brief project profiles that we are planing to endorse and implement once the sufficient funds, from FAMA project sales are in place:
- Develop "The Bridge" an Educational project as platform for Foundation's activities in educational filed. By building an alternative quality educational network for the Secondary and High School students in Sarajevo Canton:
1. Conducting the exchange of Professors, Teachers and Librarians between the city of Sarajevo and rest of the World. By organizing guest lectures, foreign language courses for the students and professional training seminars for teachers, professors and librarians.
2. Providing scholarships for most talented and disadvantaged students. Enabling them to continue their education on the university level.
3. Develop the "Free-lunch" program at schools - as respond to alarming numbers of children who are unable to afford lunch while in school.
4. Upgrade the schools and libraries with modern-age infrastructure by connecting them to the Internet, donating new computer equipment and enhancing the reference material collections.
- While fostering development of "Community Integration" initiative as platform for integrating the young civilian victims of war - the war-invalids, mentally challenged, visually and hearing impaired children, as equally contributing members of the community. By conducting:
1. Special work training programs - providing them with skills to lead more independent and self-sufficient life.
2. Donating equipment that will enhance the overall quality of their everyday life.
All of these programs are expected to follow in sequences depending on the available financial resources. While this site will continue to provide updates on their implementation as part of our effort to connect You, the contributor, with the developments in the field. As each organization, library, educational institution, agency, individual and company who have purchased FAMA project is automatically contributing to the Foundation's fund, assuring further development of our activities in the region.
We invite you to join us in our efforts to build a more prosperous future for Young Sarajevans by successfully integrating the experience and knowledge of Survival Philosophy within our current and future conducts while providing the immediate relief to those in need on educational, existential and emotional level.
