THE "PARROT" BUILDING
(PAPAGAJKA)

The gaudy building in the Old Town, regarded as one of the most tasteless architectonic experiments in the city, was not completely finished when the hostilities began. The refugees from the outskirts of the city whose houses were destroyed moved into the building. Soon they became known far and wide for their extremely low standards of habitation.
