SURVIVAL MAP
TEXT LEGEND PREVIEW

WEAPONS

At the beginning of the siege the aggressor surrounded Sarajevo by a circle of 260 tanks, 120 mortars, an innumerable number of rocket launchers, anti-aircraft machine guns, anti-aircraft guns, snipers, machine guns...... During the shelling the popular guessing game in the Sarajevo shelters was to figure out by the sound of the explosion the type of weapon and its caliber. However, the most interesting weapons were those produced by the defenders of the city during the first period of the siege. Guns made from gas pipes, bows and arrows with explosive tips, bottles filled with various kinds of combustive liquids which could be fired from guns, hand made tromblons and bombs which were as dangerous to the aggressor as to those who used them.
