About FAMA

FAMA International, founded in 1991, is Sarajevo based; media-publishing house with developing foundation activities and network of affiliated partners in Europe, USA and Japan. It is a leading company and the advocate for Global: Preservation, Integration and Educational/Application of the Collective Memory on human knowledge and experience pertaining to the Phenomenon of Sarajevo Siege (92/96). Because the World, in order to survive itself, needs the experience of Sarajevo Survival!

Anticipating the changes of the emerging post-communism, FAMA was a pioneer in development of the independent TV media in the Balkans. It has set standards to quality broadcasting and marketing by introducing a new genre called "political entertainment", which was a shock for a public used to the repressive treatment of politics as something deadly serious. Consequently, it was also the first privately produced program to be broadcasted on the Communist-owned, State TV network, throughout the Former Yugoslavia.

During the war in Bosnia, in the besieged city of Sarajevo, under the barrage of shells and sniper fire, FAMA has developed a Civilization projects inspired by the Philosophy of "Survival". The projects were created as historical documents and witnesses to the Phenomenon of Sarajevo Siege and human experience of survival; as our contribution to global conciseness, media and educational market in Europe, North America and Japan. In due course, FAMA has developed a " puzzle strategy", that has used publishing and exhibitions as a media to investigate different levels of the siege (... existential, cultural, mental, political, historical, sociological ...) enabling us to form the most coherent and comprehensive picture on the event that has shaped the world affairs on the brink of 21st century. While being acknowledged and honored by educational institutions, foreign governments, media, intellectuals, libraries and general public in the Balkans and around the world, for our intellectual and creative abilities and the efforts to preserve the Truth and Collective Memory for future generations.

Immediately as siege ended, after 1395 days of horror, FAMA has conducted most comprehensive documentation of the siege memories, while still fresh in people's mind. Which led to creation of our project - a Video-Archive "THE SIEGE" Sarajevo 1992-1996. A successful integration of four years of siege work and two years of production has delivered the ultimate Evidence that defends the real Truth behind the Siege of Sarajevo against any future manipulations or wrongful historical interpretations. It has been created as a Collective Memory of our past and Inspiration, or perhaps, the key to our future.

Currently, FAMA, is fostering distribution of the Video-Archive project to educational institutions and libraries across the world in an effort to make its content accessible to different levels of education and research. While anticipating conversion of its Intellectual/historical value into the capital to be used for development of FAMA's future projects on Sarajevo and the its FAMA Foundation. With the objectives to preserve the memory on the event and assist Sarajevans in rebuilding their future through quality education and successful integration of the civilian victims of war into the community, as equally contributing members.

As we progress to the dawn of a new age FAMA has already started to reinforce its future platform that will be guided by the reflection of " The Mirror of Time" initiative. Enabling us to continue to record global changes and events of importance to our existence and ultimate future; by using digital technology to provide current and future generations with tools to attain and develop highest ethical principals while preserving our Global Collective Memory.
